Blaise® FDCC Compliance

The Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) is a security configuration mandated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to standardize the configuration of desktop computers used by U.S. Government agencies. Statistics Netherlands (the developer of Blaise® software) has worked with Westat (the authorized licensor of Blaise in the United States) in testing the desktop components of Blaise software to verify compliance with the FDCC under Windows XP®: Specifically:

  • The desktop components of Blaise software are fully functional and operate correctly as intended on systems using the FDCC under Windows XP.
  • The standard installation, operation, maintenance, update, and/or patching of the Blaise desktop components does not alter the configuration settings from the approved FDCC configuration. Blaise uses the Windows Installer Service for installation to the default "program files" directory and is able to silently install and uninstall.
  • Blaise applications designed for normal end users are able to run in the standard user context without elevated system administration privileges.

Compliance under Windows Vista® will be announced at a later date.

Please contact Blaise Services at Westat if you have any questions about Blaise and FDCC compliance.
