Westat combines strong study design and statistical skills with national survey data collection capabilities and the experience of nationally recognized transportation and human factors researchers. We have applied these resources successfully over 5 decades to research on traffic safety, vehicle design, travel surveys, enforcement, impaired driving, transit needs analysis, and intelligent transportation systems.
Westat uses a wide variety of methodologies to develop, implement, and analyze regionally and nationally representative travel studies. We have researched and developed advanced CATI, mail, Web, and GPS data collection methods, geocoding, and other geospatial analysis and field methods for national and regional travel surveys that target a range of respondent groups, from general regional travelers to the elderly and persons with disabilities.... more about Travel Studies
Westat's human factors research uses laboratory simulation, instrumented vehicles, and roadway instrumentation to measure driver behavior and performance for a wide range of driving situations and vehicle characteristics.... more about Human Factors
To help reduce the causes and consequences of traffic crashes, Westat has conducted numerous studies concerning speeding, aggressive driving, seat belt use, and drinking and driving.... more about Transportation Safety
