Westat has more than 40 years of experience in supporting agencies of the Federal Government in a broad range of research areas including cancer epidemiology and surveillance.

Cancer Registries

We have expertise in cancer registry operations, including in-depth knowledge of reporting and classification systems and quality control issues. Westat manages operations for the Maryland Cancer Registry (MCR). The MCR serves as a resource for decisionmaking in cancer prevention and control throughout the State and for cancer research.

Cancer Surveillance/Epidemiology

Westat has worked with physician organizations and individual medical providers for cancer surveillance and cancer epidemiology studies. In addition, we have provided support to the National Cancer Institute for several of its major extramural clinical research networks in oncology cooperative group management, chemoprevention, and cancer screening.

Westat's oncology clinical trial experience includes vaccine, gene therapy, monoclonal antibody and chemotherapy intervention trials, as well as screening and prevention studies.
