Study Tracking and Review System (STaRS)

Westat developed STaRS as a web-based system. It is designed to

Track activities and documentation associated with the review, approval, and post-approval followup of requests for the use of study data and specimens
Manage attendant publications, presentations, and adjunct studies
Guide investigators through the process of submitting proposals
Provide tools for tracking progress from the initial application through closeout/publication

Each process for review and approval is considered a workflow. These processes ensure that communications are sent promptly to the right people at each step.

The system provides schedules, status reports, and reminders to ensure that the overall process is performed as expected.

STaRS is hosted at Westat in our secure web-hosting environment. Projects can get started quickly by choosing from a catalogue of workflows to implement. Workflows are also customizable to client needs.
