Laboratory Support

Medical and clinical laboratories have an increasingly important role in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating infectious diseases worldwide. Consistent, reliable, and quality-assured laboratory testing results are vital to preventing the spread of disease and essential for assessing a patient's health status and treatment plan.

Building sustainable laboratory capabilities is of utmost importance, particularly within resource-limited countries faced with the need for adequately trained personnel, and increased quality assurance and quality control measures.

Worldwide Laboratory-Strengthening Efforts

Over the years, through cooperative agreements with many government organizations, Westat has participated in strengthening the capabilities of laboratories and clinics in more than 50 laboratories across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America. These include laboratories in Argentina, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Thailand, and Trinidad, among others.
